Save Big, Live Comfy!

I'm a self-confessed big spender that's why I always become broke no matter how much I make. I create a budget but would rarely stick to it. Now, I'll share my plan on how I can save up and I hope I can make it happen this time.

Rule #1: Leave my Credit Card at home

I was planning to cut it in half or run a magnet in the field where they have it swiped to destroy it but I thought I still need it for any unanticipated must-buys. So I decided to leave it safe at home to avoid impulse buying. I tend to purchase things I don't really need. Whenever I get my salary, half of it goes to payment of credit card debt. It's killing me.

Rule #2: Make a Grocery list and Stick to it

Before heading to the supermarket I'll make a list of the indispensable things like shampoo, hair conditioner, soap and sanitary napkins. I'll cut expenses on junk foods and no matter how hard it is, I'll reduce my spending on chocolates. I would just buy chocs which come in little packs so that whenever I have craving I'll just pop in a small piece rather than eat up a huge bar.

Rule #3: Control my Pig Out Moments

I so love food and I enjoy eating out with friends especially after a tiring night of work. I'll limit our food trips from 4 times to once-twice a week, not only I will save up to P500 a week but I'll lose weight as a bonus.

Rule #4: Enjoy Weekends at Home

Instead of watching flicks at the mall during my days off I would stay at home for an all day dvd-a-thon. That way I would only incur expenses on electricity and drinking water. And I get to watch all my favorite TV series too.

Rule #5: Be a Smart Shopper

I rummaged through my closet and realized I got a lot of pretty stuff I often overlook. It's just a matter of mixing and matching. There are also pieces which cannot be worn anymore because they are so outdated. So the next time I go on shopping I would only buy clothes which will not go out of fashion that easily. Like a plain body hugging tees and the good old jeans.

I'm crossing my fingers but I feel that I'm more confident now than before that I can really save huge amount of moolah this time. Besides I have a pretty long list of things to buy and travel plans. Oops.
